Community Service

East Cobb Quilters’ Guild has a long history of community service. Members give freely of their time and energy to create great quilts and other items for donation to area charities. Often gathering in small groups to sew, members also benefit from the friendships that develop and deepen while these projects are created.

Pillowcases for Ryan's Case for Smiles

A bright, fun pillowcase can brighten a sick child’s day.  If you have not made a pilllowcase before, or just need a refresher, download the pattern below. Our Georgia Chapter Coordinator, Barbara Means, has written an additional document with lots of great tips to ensure your success – you can Click Here to view and download it.   Barbara has confirmed that washing/bagging your finished pillowcase is optional, but if you choose to do those steps, please follow her guidelines.

Placemats for Meals on Wheels

Hundreds of older adults and disabled individuals are served by the Cobb County Meals on Wheels Program staffed by volunteer drivers.  Lunch is a lot more fun with a pretty placemat, especially at holiday time.  Placemats should measure about 12 inches by 16 inches, or larger.

Bereavement Diapers

Bereavement diaper sets are given to families that lose a child to miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death – they receive a set of two, one for their baby, and one as a keepsake. Click Here for the pattern – feel free to make the small and/or large diapers – both are needed!

Scent Pads

NICU preemies are comforted with the familiar scent of mom and dad thru the use of Scent Pads.  Click Here for the Northside pattern and instructions for bagging your finished pads in sets of 3.  You can follow the same pattern for Children’s, but they do not require a bag (and they do accept other sizes – a nice alternative is a 4” finished square).
