The time has come! It’s time to submit your 2024 Musical Madness Challenge quilt! Here are some things to know to make this process successful, smooth and enjoyable!
Challenge Requirements
Make sure your quilt fits the Challenge requirements:You must be a guild member to submit a challenge quilt. (Renew here)
- Your quilt must fit the size requirements which are:
- Minimum size 30” a side (total of 120” around)
- Maximum size 60” a side (total of 240” around)
- Your quilt must have 3 layers quilted together, Top/Batting/Back
- Your quilt should have a Hanging Sleeve so it may be displayed in March
- Your quilt must be submitted at the January meeting in a pillowcase that hides the identity of the maker. The case will remain with the quilt at all times to protect it.
Your quilt must have an identifying tag on the back, which must be covered by blue tape/fabric until after the judging is over.
Submit Your Quilt Information
You MUST have a picture of your quilt, a description with its inspiration (title of song, composer, performer) and a link to a performance of your piece submitted to Carolyn Powers (membership@ecqg.com) (and copied to Beau Palmer challenge@ecqg.com) by Midnight, Tuesday, 23 January 2024. (You may help us by doing this sooner!)
At the January Meetings
Please submit your quilt for viewing at either the Thursday evening meeting (January 25, 2024) or the Friday morning meeting (January 26, 2024) and PLEASE ARRIVE A LITTLE EARLY TO THE MEETING TO SUBMIT YOUR QUILT SO WE MAY BEGIN GETTING THEM READY FOR VIEWING! THANK YOU!
It would be wonderful if you could leave your quilt with the guild until after the exhibit in March to make it easier on the exhibit crew.
Voting for Your Favorite Challenge Quilt(s)
Voting will begin at 13:00 after the Friday, 26 January meeting where you will be able to see the quilts that have been handed in and will end at 11:00 p.m. the same day. You may vote online with the ballot linked to the Guild’s site, or you may email Carolyn Powers (membership@ecqg.com) your votes. Announcement of the winners will be made soon thereafter on Saturday, January 27, 2024.
Ribbons will be awarded at the February meeting and (we would beg your indulgence) remain with the quilt until after the show in March when all will be returned to the makers.
As always, each member will have five votes which you may disperse in any way you see fit. For example, all five may go to one quilt, you may give five quilts each one vote, or any combination thereof.

The DEADLINE for entering your Musical Madness quilt is midnight, January 23, 2023. However, entering earlier is appreciated!
