Community Service
East Cobb Quilters’ Guild has a long history of community service. Members give freely of their time and energy to create great quilts and other items for donation to area charities. Often gathering in small groups to sew, members also benefit from the friendships that develop and deepen while these projects are created.

Quilts for Cobb County DFCS (Division of Family & Children Services)
for children taken into foster care. The children’s ages range from newborns to teens and quilts are needed for boys and girls. Quilts are accepted at each meeting and delivered to DFCS periodically. A bright, fun pillowcase can brighten a sick child’s day. Click here for pillowcase instructions. To prepare a pillowcase for donation, please launder the pillowcase in unscented detergent, Press, Fold, and insert in a quart-sized ziplock bag.

Placemats for Meals on Wheels
Hundreds of older adults and disabled individuals are served by the Cobb County Meals on Wheels Program staffed by volunteer drivers. Lunch is a lot more fun with a pretty placemat, especially at holiday time. Placemats should measure about 12 inches by 16 inches, or larger.

Beads of Courage Bags
Through our partnership with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, ECQG provides Beads of Courage bags to children throughout the Atlanta area coping with serious illnesses. You can download the bag pattern below. Labels and caring artist cards are available at the Community Service table during monthly meetings, along with cording and fabric.
