Here’s the full announcement from Ryan’s Case for Smiles:

The JoAnn Shaw Award recognizes a chapter coordinator who has had an exceptional impact on our organization. For 2024, we are proud to honor Barbara Means of Atlanta, Georgia.

Barbara’s journey with us began in August 2015, when she took the helm of the Atlanta chapter. Back then, the chapter was supported by a handful of quilt guilds delivering pillowcases to a small number of hospitals. Under Barbara’s leadership, the chapter has grown tremendously—both in scope and impact. Today, it serves 14 hospitals across the state of Georgia and stands as a testament to her vision and dedication.

By the end of 2024, the Atlanta chapter reached a remarkable milestone: 80,536 pillowcases delivered. This extraordinary achievement highlights Barbara’s ability to inspire and engage her community.

Barbara’s heart for service is evident in every aspect of her work. She is constantly thinking of others, the children and families she serves, as well as the hundreds of volunteers who bring this mission to life. Barbara dedicates countless hours to visiting quilt guilds, religious groups, and service organizations, spreading awareness and encouraging involvement

More than a leader, Barbara is a beacon of compassion, professionalism, and inspiration. Her unwavering commitment has transformed the Atlanta chapter into a powerhouse of generosity and kindness. Her accomplishments are truly unmatched, and her leadership has left an indelible mark on our organization.
