Community Service Quilts
The quilts you make for our Community Service partners are shared with boys and girls of all ages as well as adults. Here are some suggestions for you as you start planning your quilts.
Quilts for Boys and Girls
in our community are shared with the Cobb County Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS). The children in foster care range in age from toddlers to teenagers, so all sizes are welcome. When choosing colors and fabrics, think happy and hopeful.
Quilts for Adult Women
are shared with the Barbara Crafton Center for Women at The Extension, based in Marietta. Ladies recovering from substance abuse are so grateful that someone cared enough to make them a quilt to grace their twin-size beds, so a 70” x 90” quilt is optimal. Any quilt fabrics that make you happy are sure to do the same for the ladies at The Extension.
Quilts For Injured First Responders in Georgia
through a partnership with the Quilts for Cops Foundation. While the majority of quilts are given to men, these quilts are also given to women, so making fabric choices with neutral colors and prints is a good option. Tans, brown, blues, grays, black, subdued reds and earthy greens are good choices. Please do not use panels, sports themes, or novelty fabric. Quilts should be 60”-64” wide and 80”-84” long. A good quilting density is around 3 ½ inches. Please avoid light colored backing fabric and bind by machine. You can attach the ECQG label and we will attach the QFC label once you turn in your quilt. Click Here for some examples of quilts for first responders.
